Ehrhart Griffin & Associates (EGA) was selected to provide civil engineering services for the Child Saving Institute Campus Expansion project located at 46th and Dodge Streets in Omaha. The multi-phase project includes the renovation of the existing facility, the construction of a new 58,350 building addition, and the construction of a 136-stall surface parking lot west of 46th Street. This development will significantly expand existing programs and create new programming opportunities for the Child Saving Institute and the well-being of its employees.
The project team, led by Tack Architecture, includes master planning, phasing and design services for the east and west sides of 46th Street. Ehrhart Griffin & Associates is assisting in master planning, providing necessary platting and re-zoning, and civil engineering design of the project.
Phase 1 includes the construction of employee parking lot on the west side of 46th Street. The design of the parking lot incorporates a functionality that allows not only parking but also allows for company and community outdoor events.
Phase 2 includes the renovation and addition to the existing building to expand early child-hood education, juvenile justice, child welfare, and other future programming. The design of the east site includes a child drop-off lane, surface parking stalls, access to the proposed below ground parking garage, and adequate green space to be used as an outdoor class-room and playground.
Site design elements include typical layout, grading, utility services, storm water detention and water quality treatment meeting City ordinance, fire department accessibility, and ADA accessibility. This project also included City of Omaha Public Improvement components for the design of the parking stalls along Harney Street.
