The project consisted of the demolition of the old Ak-Sar-Ben horse track racing facility, associated stables and training tracks and the redevelopment of the facility for two main users:
University of Nebraska at Omaha Engineering and Technology campus which included the main engineering building, parking lots, sport facilities, and dormitories. Main campus of the First Data Resources Corporation which included main corporate quarters (newly relocating to Omaha) and adjacent parking lots.
Project included the following:
- Demolition of the Ak-Sar-Ben horse track racing facility and related stables, training tracks and roadway system,
- Site grading,
- New network of interior public streets connecting the existing and interior street system with the two new campuses on-site,
- Public street improvements,
- Extensive parking lot system,
- Storm and sanitary sewers, and two bridges,
- Traffic analysis (pre and post design).
Sorin Juster was project manager and designer for a majority of the civil engineering and transportation parts of the project.
